We are glad you've chosen to visit with us today!

Abingdon First Church of God is a warm and friendly place where people of all stations in life can have their spiritual needs met at an altar of prayer. As a matter of fact, we are often referred to as the Friendly Chapel. In addition to Sunday Morning and Evening worship services, and midweek Bible study at 7:00 pm on Thursday, a few of the ministries offered here include:

  1. Sunday school classes for ages toddler through Senior Adult.

  2. Nursery facilities for those with children 2 years or younger.

  3. Junior Church that meets during regular worship for ages 3 - 6.

  4. A youth class that meets on Sunday Mornings that meets with our Pastor and activities are planned throughout the year.

  5. A food pantry for those in need in our community.

  6. W.C.G. (Women of the Church of God) meet each second Tuesday of the month at 6:30

  7. J.O.Y. meets each third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 in the fellowship hall. J.O.Y. stands for Just Older Youth and the only requirement for participation is a single gray hair.

  8. Choir practice each Sunday after evening worship service. Our choir does a fantastic job, but Director Cindy McFalls is always on the lookout for one more voice.

  9. An active hospital visitation program

  10. A ministry to the local nursing homes takes place each Tuesday and Friday mornings. If you are interested in participation in this ministry, please let Pastor Neace know.

  11. A radio program is produced locally and aired each Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm on 1600 AM WXMY between Saltville and Chilhowie, and serves as both outreach to the community and to our shut-ins.

  12. We are very active in state ministries, and our Pastor is a leader to our youth across the state. He is the Chair to the Ministry of Christian Education and oversees the State's camping program. If you have young people grades 3 through 12, Summer Youth Camp is a tremendous opportunity to grow and mature in Christ, and is not just for young people. Pastor Neace is always seeking qualified Christians for help in this ministry.

Again, we want to welcome you to Abingdon First Church of God. We pray that this is the end of your search for a warm and friendly church and the beginning of a wonderful relationship with the Family of God.

Yours in Christ,
